How can I tell if my appliance is Energy Star® qualified?

When shopping for an appliance, it's easy to recognize the Energy Star® label that identifies qualified products. This label means that the product passed stringent standards set by the U.S. Department of Energy. Additionally, manufacturers are required to display their products’ test results on the Energy Star® label. The label will tell you about the product's efficiency level, including approximately how much energy the appliance uses, its average annual operating cost, and how its energy use compares with that of similar products.

What does Energy Star® qualified mean?

Products that are Energy Star® qualified are equivalent to or better than standard products, with one important difference: They use less energy. To earn the Energy Star® rating, products must meet strict energy efficiency criteria set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency or the U.S. Department of Energy. Because they use less energy, these products save money on your electricity bill and help protect the environment by reducing harmful emissions from power plants. Plus, you get all of the features and quality you expect.

How do I start my dishwasher?

After properly loading your dishwasher, follow these simple steps to get started:
- Add detergent to the dispenser, making sure to not exceed the max amount.
- Add rinse aid if needed.
- Select your desired cycle(s).
- Select your options.
- Press start and immediately close the door.

The LED light above your selection will turn ON when a cycle or option is chosen and will turn OFF when it is deselected.

Tip: If the dishwasher is not closed within a few seconds of selecting start, you may need to reselect your cycles and options.

How do I know which dishwasher cycle to use?

Your Electrolux dishwasher offers a variety of cycles to chose from based on your dishware, size of the load and soil levels.

A brief summary of recommended uses (cycles can vary by model):

Heavy - For pots, pans, casserole dishes and dinnerware with dried-on or baked on soils.
Normal - For regularly soiled dishes and silverware.
Eco - For lightly soiled and pre-rinsed dishes and silverware.
Rinse - For rinsing dishes that will be washed later.
Fast - For regularly soiled and pre-rinsed dishes and silverware. Best for small loads.
Upper - For lightly soiled and pre-rinsed dishes and silverware when you do not have a full load or just using the upper rack.
Stemware - For regularly soiled China and Crystal.

You may choose to use Auto, which utilizes the Smart Sense technology to determine the type of cycle required to clean the dishes and will clean more efficiently every time. Or, program your Favorite cycle simply by making your selections and pressing and holding "Favorite" until the LED light is illuminated.

How does the Sanitize option work on my dishwasher?

To sanitize your dishes and glassware, select the Sanitize option. This option heats the water temperature in the final rinse to 157°F (69.4°C) and maintains that temperature for 7 minutes. Sanitize is available in Auto, Heavy, and Normal cycles. Only these sanitization cycles have been designed to meet NSF requirements. The cycle time will be extended until the proper water temperature is reached.

Why are my dishes not dry when using the Air Dry option?

If the Air Dry option is selected, the unit will not energize the heating element. While this option reduces energy consumption, it will reduce drying performance. It is normal for items in the dishwasher not to be fully dry at the end of the cycle.

How do I set Child Lock on my dishwasher display?

To prevent children from accidently changing the dishwasher cycle or starting the dishwasher, lock the dishwasher controls by pressing Air Dry and holding until the code “Loc” displays in the status window. The controls are locked and no new selections can be made until the lock is released. To unlock the controls, press Air Dry again and hold until the code “Loc” is no longer displayed.

How do I set Delay Start on my dishwasher display?

The Delay option allows you to automatically delay starting your dishwasher from 1-24 hours. Select your desired cycle and options, then press the Delay pad until the desired delay time displays. The LEDs above the selected cycle and options will be illuminated. The display will show the delay time chosen and then show the message “Press Start”. To start the delay countdown, press Start and close door immediately.

Can I add a forgotten item if the dishwasher cycle has already started?

Yes, you can! Once you open the door while a cycle is running, the dishwasher will stop. The display will show "Press Start". You can now add your forgotten item and simply press Start and immediately close the door to resume the cycle. A tone will sound indicating the dishwasher is continuing from the point of interruption.

Note: If the dishwasher door is kept open for too long, or the door is closed without pressing Start, the running cycle may be cancelled.

What items are best to put in the Third-Level Rack?

The third-level rack, or cutlery rack, is designed for flatware and most cooking or serving utensils. However, if the utensils or items are heavily soiled, it's best to place them in the upper rack or silverware basket for best washing performance. The separators on the cutlery racks help keep flatware separated to avoid damage and improve cleaning.

How do I know when the dishwasher cycle is complete?

Depending on your model, you’ll know that the cycle is complete if you see the LED light shining on the floor, or if "Clean" is illuminated in the dishwasher’s display.

What are the benefits of rinse aid?

Rinse aid greatly improves drying, reduces water spots, and filming, when water "sheets" off dishes rather than forming water droplets that cling and leave spots.

A dispenser, located next to the detergent cup, automatically releases a measured amount of rinse during the last rinse. If spotting or poor drying results occur, it's recommended to increase the amount of rinse aid dispensed.

To add rinse aid, open the cover and pour until the liquid touches the indicated fill level. Remember to close the cover when done. Be sure not to overfill since this cause oversudsing. Gently wipe up any spills with a damp cloth.

How do I adjust the rinse aid level?

You can find the rinse aid dosage level in the display window by pressing and holding "Rinse" for 5 seconds. The rinse aid dosage level will be displayed as L1 (the lowest), L2, L3, or L4 (the highest). Press "Delay" to toggle through to the desired level. The selected setting will start blinking in the display, and a beeping sound will confirm that the setting has been saved.

What can I do if my dishwasher is not starting?

If your dishwasher was just installed, there are few things you will want to check if it's not starting:
- Ensure the water supply and/or circuit breaker have been turned "On".
- If your kitchen is equipped with an "On/Off" switch for your dishwasher, make sure it's flipped on.

Some additional tips:
- Check to see if Child Lock or Delay Start have been activated.
- After pressing Start, the door must be completely closed within a few seconds. If not, the cycles and options selected will be cancelled, and you will need to reselect in order for the dishwasher to start.

If your display is showing an error message or these steps did not address your concern, you may need to contact Electrolux's Consumer Care team for assistance.

How can I improve the drying results with my dishwasher?

To ensure your dishes are dry after your dishwasher cycle is complete, follow these easy steps:

- Check the racks are loaded correctly. Cups and bowls should be loaded facing down, to allow for maximum drying and to prevent water from collecting in them. For additional recommendations on proper loading, refer to your Use & Care Manual.
- Check the rinse aid and see if it needs to refilled. Rinse aid is a very important part of maximizing your dishwasher's drying capability.
- Use Hi-Temp, Sanitize and/or Max Dry options.

Tip: It's recommended that your water heater setting is at least 120˚ F (49˚C).

How can I improve the cleaning results with my dishwasher?

Here are our top tips to improving your cleaning results:
- Use a cycle and options that are appropriate for the soil level of your dishes. Try using the Heavy cycle or Hi-Temp option.
- Check the rinse aid and see if it needs to refilled. Rinse aid "sheets" off dishes rather than forming water droplets that cling and leave spots.
- Run hot water at your kitchen faucet right before starting the dishwasher
- Be sure the dishwsher racks are properly loaded. Avoid overcrowding.
- Ensure the spray arms and detergent dispenser are not blocked.
- Use fresh detergent, because old detergent is not always effective.
- Check water heating setting is at least 120˚F (49˚C).

Tip: Perform the Rinse cycle if you are not running your dishwasher until later. This will prevent food particles from hardening on your dishes.

How do I clean and care for my dishwasher to avoid odors?

If you are not running your dishwasher until later, perform the Rinse cycle. This will prevent food particles from hardening and creating odors.

Check the cylinder fine and coarse filter for food debris that cause odors and hinder proper draining. For instructions to clean the filters, refer to your Use & Care Manual.

Try running an empty load using detergent or 1 cup white vinegar (directly in the dishwasher tub). Use Normal or Heavy cycles with Hi-Temp or Sanitize options.

To clean the exterior door, try using warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth.

What should I do if my dishwasher is not draining?

If your dishwasher was recently installed and hooked up to a food waste disposer, make sure the disposer is empty and the knockout plug has been removed. It is usually located inside the food waste disposer inlet.

- You will also want to ensure the sink spigot is not clogged.

- Ensure the drain hose is free of kinks and bends.

- Check to see if the cycle is complete, not in a pause.

- Check the cylinder fine and coarse filter for food debris. For instructions to clean the filters, refer to your Use & Care Manual.

What does it mean if my dishwasher display is showing an error message?

Error messages can vary. Refer to your Use & Care Manual to see if possible causes and solutions are listed for the error you are experiencing. In all error message instances, try pressing the cancel button or turning power off at the breaker for 5 minutes to see if the code clears. If the code reappears, please contact Electrolux's Consumer Care Center.
