The Antarctica Project
Electrolux on sustainability
For Electrolux, sustainability means embracing our responsibility to act as a good corporate citizen. We are continually working to reduce energy consumption from products and emissions from factories; working to ensure that our employees and business partners are treated fairly; and striving to be a good neighbour in the communities in which we operate.

To support the ‘zero emission’ ambition of the station, the IPF selected Electrolux as a supplier due to the superb environmental performance of its appliances. For Electrolux, the Antarctica Project is “a great challenge for us to meet the strict requirements laid down by international law on energy and water usage in this region,” says Henrik Sundström, Vice President of Environmental and Sustainability. “Our products not only exceed current stringent rules on energy and water usage in Europe but in Antarctica as well.”

The best performing Electrolux appliances use 56% less water and 26% less electricity than the market average in 1995.
